CALL FOR STORIES: Ukrainian Voices in the Okanagan

Have you or someone you know been displaced by the war in Ukraine and found a new beginning here in the Okanagan?
 
We're creating a digital “Zine” that shares real stories of resilience, culture, and hope from Ukrainians who now call the Okanagan home. Whether it's a memory, a photo, a poem, or a reflection, we want to hear your voice.
 
This is a community tribute. A space for healing. A way to be seen.
 
You can write in Ukrainian or English.

Submissions can be:
  • A personal story or journey
  • A favorite family tradition that continues here
  • A poem, photo, or piece of art about home, memory, or starting over
  • A letter to your past self—or to those still in Ukraine
  • Or anything else you want to share, it can be short or long—you decide
 
We are happy to help you write your story as well. If you provide us in point form the details, we will compose and edit your story until you are satisfied that it is accurate and meaningful.

Constitutional Charitable Purposes
  1. To relieve poverty by providing necessities of life, including food, clean water, clothing, medical supplies, medicine, protective gear and/or shelter to victims of war in Ukraine.
  2. To relieve poverty by providing necessities of life, including food, clean water, clothing, protective gear and/or shelter to needy immigrants and Ukrainian refugees and their families as well as offering financial assistance necessary for their relocation and settling in Canada and referring them to the appropriate resources, if necessary.
  3. To relieve poverty by providing financial assistance, to be used for necessities of life, to poor families of volunteers who quit their jobs to travel to Ukraine to help victims of war.
  4. To provide education, counseling and other support services to needy immigrants and Ukrainian refugees including job search programs, translation services, accompaniment and referral service during administrative procedures and information programs on Canadian culture and life in Canada.
